The Adventure
Offroad, on the road, or even by bike, come and discover the landscapes of Haute-Loire!
Event open to trail motorcycles, maxi-trails, electric, sidecars (select the "offroad motorcycle" profile when registering), road motorcycles (select the "road motorcycle" profile when registering), as well as gravel / mountain bike / mountain bike bikes (select the “bike” profile when registering).
Because historically the name “La Vercingétorix” for our Auvergne event speaks to more people and also because it is a nice name, we wanted to come back to it. Its content remains similar to "Rock'n'Trail" 2024, with some changes to the tracks.
What about bikes AND motorcycles?
For the rest, there are always only 2 wheels, there is balance, fun, discussions about tires, discovery, sharing, solidarity... In short, a multitude of common points that you can all discuss together (or not!) on the bivouac.
S' it may surprise you, the marriage of the motorcycle world and the cycling world is great, humanly enriching and generates great encounters!
The program
Every morning breakfast is offered from 7:00 a.m. followed by the briefing at 8:30 a.m. The starts are given immediately after the briefing, regulated and organized separately between bicycles and motorcycles. By motorbike or by bike, if all goes well you have left for a good day of riding and are back at the end of the afternoon.
The bivouac
Breakfasts and dinners are taken under the organization's marquees and provided by our catering partner Chris&Co. Apart from water, drinks are not included, a refreshment bar is available.
The Cocoricorando staff is present and available all weekend to welcome you and guide you, an electric stand allows you to recharge your devices ( GPS, smartphone, VAE battery) and our osteopath will put you back on your feet if necessary!
Practical aspects
Lunches are not included, everyone will do as they wish and their progress on the routes. Suggestions for local catering points will be included in the booklet which will be given to you at the start of the event. A pack option of 3 picnic baskets is available upon registration. In the event of a (major) mechanical problem, the organization can help you (interventions included in registration, excluding supplies and consumables).
What does the course look like?
For the offroad motorcycle version: you have the choice between 2 mixed courses (road/path): the "Adventure" course circumvents the biggest difficulties to stay on rolling and easy paths, accessible even for the first turns of the wheels on offroad, the “Extrême” course offers some additional sensations without being inaccessible. The 100% bitumen course is also available and can serve as a fallback solution in the event of fatigue or bad weather. The motorcycle road registration offers you 100% asphalt tracks, ranging from beautiful rolling winding roads to very small country roads, and offers you a mileage of between 230 and 300 km per day. The bike version is primarily focused on hiking: it is a ride that will allow you to discover a magnificent region, at your own pace and without great technical difficulty, apart from a certain physical challenge. The routes are mainly made up of rolling paths (mainly gravel, dirt, grass) connected to small picturesque roads. However, it is not excluded to encounter a slightly more "fun" passage and a few "single tracks" here and there. For each of the 3 days, 2 kilometer versions are offered on the same loop, so you can personalize and above all improvise along the way.
The wild beauty of the Haute-Loire being closely linked to its relief, there is inevitably altitude difference, even if it never goes very high in altitude. You have to count between 1000 and 2000m of cumulative positive altitude difference each day, with some potentially "annoying" steep sections :)
For what types of motorcycles/bicycles?
The Vercingétorix offroad motorcycle version is primarily designed for maxi-trails, i.e. big machines with large displacements and great comfort. The trails are also perfectly suitable. It is also possible with lighter, small-displacement or enduro-type motorcycles, provided of course that you remain in total compliance with the Regulations (particularly concerning the noise of the machine!). “Vintages”, sidecars and electric motorcycles are also welcome! The road motorcycle version is open to all road bikes whatever they may be, provided that the rider is in tourist ride mode.
By bike, if the most suitable is the electrically assisted mountain bike which will allow you to climb the relatively large total altitude difference each day and challenge yourself on the route offering the greatest mileage, it is entirely possible to participate in muscle or even gravel mountain biking. Rental of electrically assisted semi-rigid mountain bikes is also possible to participate in the event, from our partner Stations Bee's Brioude.
How to follow the route?
By bike or motorbike, on paths or on asphalt, navigation is done using GPS (or via your favorite smartphone app) independently, the routes are not marked. One week before the big day you will receive GPX files (and TRB for Tripy owners) of all the routes proposed relating to your registration.
Little known in the world of cycling, the Tripy GPS available for rental to motorcyclists can also do the job on a bike and will quickly attach to the handlebars with a quick release. Although it may seem a little heavy and bulky for a bicycle, it offers great comfort and great precision when reading the roadbook.
Registering with Vercingétorix commits you to respecting the Highway Code, as the route uses lanes open to traffic.
